CSS Frameworks/Reset
April 28th, 2008
I find this quite an interesting subject at the moment, there seems to be two contrasting views to what works well and it was brought up again at the Future of Web Design in both the conference talk by Jon Hicks and mentioned briefly by Jina Bolton and Andy Clarke in Jina's workshop on CSS. I am someone that comes from the school of liking to reset all my styles. read more »
Liverpool last night
April 23rd, 2008
Horrendous, basically. We totally deserved the win! Agreed Chelsea outplayed us in the first 15min but we controlled the game after that. It's been the story of our season not finishing teams off and we should have scored 3 just to put a nail in the coffin last night. I suppose on thing to take out of this is we now have to get a result at Chelsea, going there 1-0 up we would have just sat back, absorbed the pressure and it would have been a dull game. Now our whole season resides on this match, bring it on I ...read more »
Quietness!
March 2nd, 2008
I have been a bit quiet in here due to my Miami trip, but I will be doing a full write up on FOWA Miami 08 as soon as I return. The Conference and work shops rocked, thanks to Carsonified for all the work putting it on, now I can't wait for Future of Web Design!
Orlando thunderstorm
February 27th, 2008
So, I have just spent two days in Orlando as part of our Miami trip, dashing around the rides at Disney World and Universal Studios, just as I am leaving to get the bus back to Miami the sky turned and nasty shade of grey and the heavens opened for about 30min followed by a huge thunderstorm, picture attached.
Grooverider sentenced..
February 19th, 2008
This is a story I have been following since November, having been a Drum and Bass DJ for 8+ years and hearing a lot of sets from this man. Basically he was arrested at Dubai airport for possession of cannabis and hardcore pornography. As many of you will know (or maybe not), drugs and pornography are a major issue in Dubai, with minimum sentences of 4 years for most convictions, one noticeable let-off being Dallas Austin (an R&B producer in the states with good connections, supposedly pardoned despite having Cocaine on him). There seems ...read more »
Global resets CSS
January 20th, 2008
http://meyerweb.com/eric/thoughts/2008/01/15/resetting-again/ This is a really interesting article from Eric Meyer, I have often used the basic * { margin:0; padding:0; border:0; etc } In my CSS markup, it makes so much more sense to get very specific with the reset and make sure everything is covered. html, body, div, span, applet, object, iframe, h1, h2, h3, h4, h5, h6, p, blockquote, pre, a, abbr, acronym, address, big, cite, code, del, dfn, em, font, img, ins, kbd, q, s, samp, small, strike, strong, sub, sup, tt, var, b, u, i, center, dl, dt, dd, ol, ul, li, fieldset, form, label, legend, table, caption, tbody, tfoot, thead, tr, th, td { margin: 0; padding: 0; border: 0; outline: 0; font-size: 100%; vertical-align: baseline; background: transparent; } body ...read more »
What should have happened at MacWorld Expo
January 18th, 2008
In my dreams... As everybody's favorite keynote of the year approaches, more and more rumors about the great iProducts to come begin floating around the great rumor mill. Our friends over at MacRumors have supposedly obtained a draft version of the keynote transcripts for the upcoming MacWorld 2008. I have no idea if it is real or not, but I wouldn't doubt it. Here's a summary of the speculated things to come. Here's a compiled list of what MacRumor's two transcripts consist of. Remember, none of this is guaranteed and nothing is promised, so don't hold your breath on it. Mac Nano • ...read more »
MacBook Air and Apple Expo..
January 16th, 2008
Well, suprised, slightly dissapointed and wondering what they will release over the coming months is my sum up. From the constant rumours that were circulating around I was expecting the 3g Iphone, a small (say 10"/11" laptop) plus the thin notebook. I suppose one out of three isn't bad, and the MacBook Air is a very lovely bit of kit. I personally won't be buying one, well not in the near future, my MacBook Pro is great, a small laptop would have been perfect for travelling and DJ'ing, I have a feeling the Air wouldn't stand up to much bashing ...read more »
MacWorld Expo
January 15th, 2008
I think I am turning into a geek, I can't wait for the keynote speech. Reading some interesting ideas on the design for the new thin laptop (supposedly called MacBook Air). One from Wired suggests this click here. This looks so cool, especially for travelling and DJ'ing work. With my trip to Miami coming up I have a feeling I may be coming home with one of these!
Why Accessibility? Because It’s Our Job!
January 10th, 2008
I had an interesting moment at christmas. We have been working like crazy on our new web project (touchlocal.com) to get it live, as part of this I had been covering some basics of accessibility but it had not really been an area we had touched on properly because of the time restraints. So in a moment of madness (or greatness I guess) I fired up my Nan's old school PC with an even older version if IE6 and all the accessibility settings pretty high as they could go so she could view it. I held my breath, worried... To ...read more »
